The Pentecostal movement in Germany is growing. This can be concluded from statistics from the Bund Freikirchlicher Pfingstgemeinden (BPF). According to their numbers, both the amount of churches as the amount of members have increased.
In 2002, the Pentecostal church in Germany had approximately 37,000 members and had 541 congregations. These numbers have grown to 62,872 members and 838 congregations in 2019. Three years later, the church has now 64,807 members and 872 congregations. That is an increase of almost 28,000 members in twenty years. The number of congregations has increased to 838, that is 331 congregations more than in 2002.
2,294 people were baptized last year in the Pentecostal church. Even though the growth has slowed down a bit compared to the last twenty years, Peter Bregy, Secretary General of the BFP, says that this growth is significant.
During the pandemic, the German Pentecostal churches have shown great creativity to keep sharing the Gospel. The pandemic did not stop new congregations from being founded. In the last two years, 30 new congregations have emerged.
