Every year, the Walk for Freedom marches take place all around the world. It is a silent march, with the goal to “make the often hidden reality of modern slavery visible to passersby.” The marches are walked through many European city centers, the people joining the walk often wearing black and holding up signs.

The marches are organised by the global organisation A21, the first one being more than a decade ago. The Christian organisation encourages people to “show up locally, to have a global impact.” Marches were held not only in Europe, but also in Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, and India.
An important subject that the marches have drawn attention to in the last couple of years is the problem of sexual exploitation, including forced prostitution.
Evangelical Focus reports Walks for Freedom being held in Thessaloniki (Greece), Sofia (Bulgaria), Innsbruck (Austria), Stuttgart (Germany), Bern (Switzerland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Glasgow and Edinburgh (Scotland), and several cities in England, Sweden and Spain.
