During Hope for Europe in Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina this month, Jeff Fountain received the HOPE Award for his project that “embodies a biblical message of hope.” The prize was awarded by the European Evangelical Alliance (EEA).

From October 4 till October 8, the Hope for Europe 2022 Experience took place in Sarajevo. The Hope Award is given annually to a project, group, or person who embodies “the message of biblical hope and values of partnership, networking, transformation, and integrity.” This is said by the World Evangelical Alliance. The purpose of the award is to encourage people by honoring people and projects who spread hope, and to raise awareness of initiatives that can “inspire further actions of hope.”

This year’s award was given to Jeff Fountain, the director of the Schuman Centre for European Studies. He was born in New Zealand and moved to the Netherlands in 1975. He has lived there ever since, but has travelled and spread hope in many European countries. Jeff has led the European branch of Youth With A Mission for twenty years, reports Evangeliques.info.

Former General Secretary of the EEA, Thomas Bucher, says: “Jeff has exemplified unity in the body of Christ. He has worked tirelessly to ensure that the church lives up to its task of proclaiming the Good News in different ways and channels, in the great expectation that God has yet another Christian chapter in store for Europe.”
