At the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer, Sports Fan Outreach International spread the Gospel to thousands of people by preaching in the open air.
The Commonwealth Games were held from July 28 till August 8 in Birmingham, England. It is a sporting event for the member states of the Commonwealth of Nations, many of which are former British territories. The event takes place every four years. This year, 72 nations participated, and more than 1.3 million tickets were sold.
Sports Fan Outreach is an organisation that preaches “at sporting events throughout the world to reunite lost souls with the Lord.” Every day of the Games, the organisation preached for as long as eight hours. This is reported by Evangelical Times.
Eight people travelled all the way from the US to Birmingham “to bring the message of salvation to any who would listen.” They set up at a shopping centre in the middle of Birmingham, and at a cricket ground. Behind the scenes, people were praying for the outreach.
Thousands of people heard the Gospel, and conversations were held with people from all kinds of religions and backgrounds.
