When a group of young missionaries from across Europe traveled to Madrid this spring, they carried faith for God to move in Spain. Through worship, street evangelism, and prophetic ministry, they witnessed a spiritual hunger rising in the heart of Spain. “There’s something happening or shifting,” said Antonia, a 26-year-old student from Germany. “It’s like a crust on the country is cracking and light is coming through.”
From Rain to Revival Outpouring
While some of the team spent time teaching and equipping local believers, Antonia’s team hit the streets and supported local missionaries. She explains: “We went to different spots in Madrid and prayed there, interceded, and worshiped.” The outreach often took the form of bold, creative evangelism—dancing in public squares, followed by open-air preaching and one-on-one conversations.
What made their experience remarkable was the deep assurance that God heard every single one of their prayers. The team had been praying consistently before and during the trip, and especially on a rainy afternoon on day seven, God moved powerfully.
Antonia recalls, “We went to a place which was really crowded… It started out a bit rough because it was raining a lot.” But as they arrived, “the sun rose up and the clouds went away, and we could start worship.” It was there that two people gave their lives to Jesus through personal conversations
Prophetic Fulfillment and Divine Protection
“I realized then that in a meeting before, I had a prophetic picture for the mission trip that God’s hands were covering us like umbrellas,” she said. When they found themselves carrying umbrellas during the rain pouring down—and experiencing breakthrough—she recognized it as a fulfillment of that picture.
In the middle of the place where they gathered, there was a huge statue of a man on a horse. Antonia had seen this image in a vision too: “I had a picture that Jesus will arrive like on a white horse in Madrid… When He will arrive in majesty, the ground will be shaking for His gospel.” What’s more, she saw that people were incredibly open in this place. The group’s prayers really proved to be fruitful.
When He will arrive in majesty, the ground will be shaking for His gospel.
The Power of Prayer
Two days later, the power of prayer was put on display again. The team felt led to pray this day out of the scripture that speaks about being hidden in Christ. As they went out on the streets, the team experienced divine protection. In places where street performances require a license, police would typically ask them to leave.
“We even saw other people doing animation… they all got asked by the police to leave, but they even looked in our eyes and just drove by,” Antonia said. “It was like they couldn’t see us.” This happened about three times! In this time of outreach, four people received Jesus and two people were healed.
It was like they couldn’t see us.
From Karma to Grace
Personal encounters on the streets deeply moved Antonia. One man in his early 30s told her he believed in karma, not Jesus. “Then I could jump in and show him the mercy of God,” she said. “Karma always comes back… but Jesus has grace. If you truly repent, it will not come back to you.” Though he didn’t make a decision for Christ on the spot, she could tell something had shifted in him: “You could just see that it changed something in him and he also said that he would ask God and look into it. It really marked me.”
Karma always comes back, but Jesus has grace.
Light in the blackout: redeeming the time
The citywide blackout that affected much of Spain during their trip could have disrupted their plans—but instead, it became a unique ministry opportunity. Antonia recalls: ‘’I had the feeling that God is lifting up light in Spain, that dark spots will come up and God will bring light. So it was interesting to then see that there was no more electricity.’’
Without electricity, metro lines were down, phones lost signal, and restaurants closed. “We were in the middle of the city center, so we just used our time and approached as many people as we could,” Antonia said. One emotional encounter involved a woman who had missed her flight and was crying. “It was nice to bring her peace and to offer prayer,” Antonia said.
A Nation Ready for Harvest
Throughout the trip, the team shared the gospel more than 100 times and saw believers in Madrid equipped to do the same. Antonia senses a spiritual shift in Spain. “You can see something is breaking off. There’s a strong religious spirit from the Catholic background, but people are hungry for a real relationship. I had the feeling that there’s like a crust on the country, but it’s ripping. Something is cracking open and the light is coming through.”
Something is cracking open and the light is coming through!
As the team prepares for the upcoming Million Month in two weeks, they carry with them not only memories but also a deepened confidence in God’s voice and a clearer vision of what He is doing across Europe.
