CNE news reports that on September 1, Universitatea Moldo-Americană opened its doors for the first time. This is the first Christian university in Moldova. It is funded by donors from Norway and the Scandinavian television station Visjon Norge. In the past their focus was mainly on starting primary and secondary schools, but now they also opened a university.

The university is located in Chisinau, which is Moldova’s capital. They started with twenty students but have the ambition to grow. The programs they offer are Business & Professional Leadership, Digital Media & Design, Ministerial Leadership, Psychology, and tech. Upon graduation, students receive an American degree from ASU (American Southeastern University).
But things have not been easy. According to the Norwegian Newspaper IDAG, it has been a challenge to get the school ready on time. Earlier on, the leaders of the school aimed to start the school in a different place close to the airport. This was not possible due to the slow bureaucracy. So instead, they started at an already established gymnasium in the city. According to the founder of Visjon Norge, Jan Hanvold, they are still planning to move the school. Jan Hanvold put his Bible on the ground on a large plot near the airport seven years ago and since then they have been planning to build the university.
