NNEWI, NIGERIA — The St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Nnewichi, Nnewi, witnessed an extraordinary turnout on December 1, 2025, as more than 1,700 people gathered for the opening day of the Hour of Freedom revival service. The event, declared as the beginning of the church’s “Month of Good News” in accordance with Luke 2:10, combined fervent worship, preaching, personal testimonies and communal celebration.
According to organizers, the service centered on messages of salvation, faith and hope — themes that resonated widely with attendees. Throughout the meeting, many individuals reportedly committed their lives to Jesus in what leaders described as a significant move of spiritual renewal within the community.
Church officials documented 30 testimonies of alleged divine intervention, including accounts of physical healing, deliverance and other personal breakthroughs. “It was a night of undeniable encounters,” one coordinator stated. “People came with expectations, and many left transformed.”
The gathering concluded with what participants affectionately called a Love Feast, marked by the shared distribution of a large cow and six bags of rice donated for the event. The meal was described as both joyful and symbolic — a practical expression of fellowship after an evening devoted to spiritual nourishment. “Jesus fed us spiritually and physically,” one member said, capturing the celebratory tone that permeated the closing moments.
Leaders of St. Mark’s Anglican Church expressed confidence that the revival marks the beginning of a strong spiritual close to the year. “You shall end well this year in Jesus’ name,” the ministry declared in its closing message, extending encouragement to the wider community.
The Hour of Freedom programme continues on Tuesday at 5 p.m., with expectations of even larger attendance as word of the opening night spreads.
