‘Before the chosen I was depressed and didn’t really know what to do. I was not working enough to really make the ends meet and struggled to pay rent. At one point I wanted to quit acting and I tried a different path, until I got the opportunity to act in the Chosen.’ Where she used to be skeptical and believed faith needed to be realistic, she encountered the love of God through playing het role as Mary.
” I was excited to play someone realistic and relatable. ‘I wouldn’t be able to play this character if I wouldn’t go through all these difficult times. It was a character where you don’t have to be perfect. Mary is a messy real person, I feel connected to her. In my former roles I always needed to be perfect, here I could just do my best and be myself’
When Elizabeth acted in the Chosen she realized that God has been there for here the whole time. “There are moments in the show where I’m actually saying that: ‘In the depths, in the heights, You are there.’
